All in all, it was the clear result expected, but with the German triathlon stars there was not only light but also shadow.

While Jan Frodeno led Team Europe to victory over the United States and an international selection at the Collins Cup, which was held for the first time, Anne Haug and Patrick Lange fell short of expectations.

In the overall result, Europe was still well ahead of the Americans (31.5) and the International team (25.5) with 42.5 points.

The Collins Cup in Samorin, Slovakia, relied on a new format.

The route led over a shortened middle distance.

Six women and six men from each team started the race over two kilometers of swimming, 80 kilometers of cycling and 18 kilometers of running.

The start was in groups of three, with one athlete from each team.

Depending on the ranking and the time intervals, there were points to be won, a maximum of six in each heat.

Only the American Tyler Knibb succeeded in doing this.

She outclassed the four-time Hawaii winner from Switzerland, Daniela Ryf, at 16:45 minutes.

Knibbs was the fastest woman of the day with a total time of 3:30:10 hours.

In the men’s category, Frodeno once again set the standard with 3:13:08 hours. Lange disappointed with third place in his heat. Sebastian Kienle had to admit defeat to the strong Canadian Lionel Sanders, but could be satisfied as second. Anne Haug also ran in second place. Surprisingly, she had to give way to the American Jackie Hering.
