Citizen boxer Shahd Khamis added a new bronze medal for the country in the Asian Championship for Youth and Juniors for both sexes, organized by the Boxing Federation in cooperation with the Asian and International Federations at Le Meridien Airport Hotel in Dubai.

Shahd Khamis lost the opportunity to compete for a gold medal after she lost, the day before yesterday, against the Kazakh Dana Didai in the weight of 75 kilograms, to be satisfied with the bronze medal, as the Kazakh player excelled by the difference of experience for her many international participations.

Last Thursday, the boxing team won its first bronze medal, through the player Jawaher Gharib, in the weight of 46 kilograms.

Shahd Khamis told "Emirates Today": "I am very happy with the bronze medal, and I look forward to it being a great motivator for me and all the girls, and I will strive to be a station for a better sports future, and I will train better for other achievements."

She thanked the Boxing Federation, the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, her family, the technical director, Mohamed Mosbeh, and his technical staff for the support that brought her to this level. They are coaches Ihsan Mammadov, Qasim Al-Baroud and Adel Al-Ashry.

On the other hand, the final matches for both genders will start today with 26 fights, while tomorrow the finals for young men and women will be held with 25 matches.

The UAE is awaiting three other medals, one of which is bronze for boxer Jassim Al-Naqbi, and his bronze medal depends on the Kyrgyz boxer winning the gold according to the tournament regulations.

Meanwhile, Rahma Al Morshedy and Maryam Adel will play their final matches and are looking forward to one of the gold or silver medals.

Kazakhstan tops the number of final matches in which its players will participate in the junior competitions, with 17 finals, 16 for Uzbekistan, 12 for India, and one fight each for Mongolia, Tajikistan and Nepal. Iraq is the only Arab team that has reached its player Abbas Qassem for the junior finals.
