The Japan Sumo Association has announced that Ichinojo Takashi has been infected with the new coronavirus.

Ichinojo participated in the joint training held until the 26th, so the other wrestlers who participated also underwent a PCR test on the 28th, but all were negative.

According to the Sumo Association's public relations manager Shibatayama, Ichinojo was found to be positive on the 27th when he underwent a PCR test due to symptoms such as a runny nose.

Ichinojo is a sumo driving school located at the Kokugikan in Ryogoku, Tokyo, and participated in joint training every day for four days until the 26th.

In addition to Ichinojo, about 10 Sekitori participated in the training every day, but as a result of the PCR test on the 28th, all of them were negative.

Ichinojo has been vaccinated twice, and Shibatayama, the public relations manager, says he has no symptoms of fever.

Also, in the Minato room to which he belongs, two wrestlers under the Makushita are said to be close contacts by the public health center, so they are inspecting.

"Unless there is a sudden change, the wrestlers who participated in the joint training will be tested again after about two days, and the result is positive," said Shibatayama, the director of public relations. I think it's okay if it doesn't exist. "
