Yoshihide Kiryu, a track and field athlete who participated in the Tokyo Olympics, ran 50 meters with local elementary school students at the stadium in Fukui City, which was the first in Japan to hit the 9-second range at 100 meters.

Kiryu marked 9 seconds 98, the first Japanese player in the 9 seconds range at the men's 100 meters held at the Fukui Prefectural Athletics Stadium in Fukui City four years ago in 2017, and then named the stadium "9.98". The nickname "Stadium" has been added.

On the 28th, as the first race after the Olympics, I participated in an event to compete in the 50-meter dash to let local elementary school students know the joy of running and the wonder of taking on the challenge before running 100 meters in this stadium.

Kiryu started side by side with the children in the 2nd to 6th grades at the midpoint of 100 meters, and showed the acceleration power of the characteristic to finish the children far apart.

The time was 5 seconds 87 in a headwind of 1.4 meters, and the children who experienced the speed of the top players cheered "Wow".

After the race, I deepened exchanges by taking commemorative photos with the children.

Harusho Yoshida, a sixth grader who ran in the lane next to Kiryu, said, "I had a lot of fun because I didn't have the opportunity to run next to Kiryu. I want to be a sprinter who can compete in the world like Kiryu." Was there.
