DeChambeau was twelve under par and had two birdie chances on holes 17 and 18 at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, to reach 58 or 59 strokes.

He missed a biridie putt from just under two meters on the 18th and stopped at 60 strokes in a round where a couple of players did not have time to finish due to rain.

- I read wrong on the putt line but it was still a cool experience.

I had that couple of opportunities on the 17th and 18th even though it didn't go my way.

But I'm still proud of how I handled the situation.

It was nice to feel the press again, says DeChambeau according to Golf Channel.

Alex Norén had three birdies on the last four holes and went around on 66 strokes.

He is 17th in Maryland and 43rd overall in the playoffs.

The Swede needs to be among the top 30 to play the tour final at East Lake Golf Club, Atlanta, Georgia September 1-5.

The winner of the playoffs will receive a total of SEK 130 million in prize money.
