Maja Åskag has a successful season behind her, but she still has more to give.

Despite gold in both triple jump and long jump during the U20 WC in Kenya, she is not completely satisfied with the performance.

- My thoughts after the World Cup are that I have a lot more in me.

Neither in length nor in three steps did I get out what I feel I have.

So I feel like I have longer lengths in me, she says.

And there are plenty of opportunities to show that it's true.

Already this weekend, the 18-year-old will compete in both triple jump and long jump in the Swedish Athletics Championships in Borås.

The following week, Finnkampen is waiting.

"Hard fight"

But she is not opposed to any opposition in Borås.

In three steps, she needs to defeat the reigning Swedish Championship champion Rebecka Abrahamsson, among other things.

In the long jump it becomes even more difficult.

There, Khaddi Sagnia, who recently came ninth at the Tokyo Olympics, is the pre-favorite.

- It's fun with resistance, it will be a hard fight.

But I will do my best and it will be super fun, she says.

The athletic talent has never competed against Sagnia before - and it would mean a lot if she succeeds raw on the 27-year-old.

- It would have been incredible if I did.

We'll see, it's fun to jump on someone who is so good, and who has inspired one, she says.

"It's tough"

Åskag returned to Sweden on Monday after the championship in Kenya.

Not even a week later, it's time to compete again.

- Tallinn (JEM) was a discharge, and this (JVM) was a discharge, so it is clear that it is tough to recharge and perform at the same level all the time.

But yes, you have to do the best, and I love doing this, so you always find some energy, she says.

At the beginning of June this year, Åskag took the student, now she looks forward to putting even more focus on the training.

She burned out two junior championships this summer - next year there are none at all.

Then she can bet higher instead.

- At the same time, it is the senior EC and senior WC, it is probably a goal to be able to qualify there.

It's a little tougher and a little harder, so it's going to be a challenge.

But that is a pretty clear goal, she says.
