Tomomi Ichikawa, a boat and women's single scull, finished 6th in the 2nd qualifying group and went to the repechage.
Ichikawa recalled, "I was stiffer than I was aware of. I think I was nervous. I was in a headwind, which I was not good at, and I got stronger."
He said, "I want to race so that I can express the image of a good time" for the repechage on the 28th.
