The Union Cycliste Internationale has tentatively suspended a Polish athlete who won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Paralympic Cycling, Men's Pursuit Men's Visually Impaired class, for suspected doping violations.

Polish player Marcin Polak was provisionally suspended.

According to the announcement of the Union Cycliste Internationale, Polak has detected erythropoietin, a banned drug that has the effect of improving endurance, in a sample collected on the 2nd of this month before the Tokyo Paralympics.

Polak won the bronze medal in the men's individual pursuit and visually impaired class held on the 25th, but Polak has the right to request a re-examination and the treatment of the bronze medal will be decided in the future.

In addition, Polak is scheduled to participate in the men's 1000-meter time trial and road events on the 28th, but he will not be able to participate unless the disposition is lifted.

This is the first time a player participating in the Tokyo Paralympics has been suspected of a doping violation.
