The English football team, Manchester United, announced - in an official statement - that an agreement had been reached to contract with its former star Cristiano Ronaldo from Italian club Juventus, to return again to the club's stadium, Old Trafford.

This came after Manchester City announced its withdrawal from the race to sign Ronaldo, and Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer announced his welcome back to the team, which he left in 2009 to Real Madrid.

And Manchester United welcomed, through their accounts on social networking sites, Ronaldo, the 5-time winner of the best player in the world, and returning to his former team, who starred in his ranks from 2003 to 2009.

Ronaldo was offered to Manchester City - who failed to sign Harry Kane of Tottenham - after the player explained his desire to leave Juventus, and after studying, Manchester City decided that he did not want to continue with this deal.

At the age of 36, Ronaldo has become in an age group that the club does not want to include in the team, and the team feels that the player will not fit the way Pep Guardiola depends.

Manchester United surprise

Solskjaer revealed today, Friday, that the team's midfielder Bruno Fernandes was speaking with Ronaldo, and that the former team player "knows we are here."

It was reported that Juventus wanted to get approximately 25 million pounds ($ 34.3 million) to dispense with Ronaldo.

Solskjaer was asked: Why was Ronaldo supposed to return to Manchester City and not to Manchester United?

"I didn't think Ronaldo would leave Juventus," he said.

"There was speculation this morning, and in the last few days. We had good communication; I know Bruno (Fernandes) was talking to him as well. He knows how we feel about him, and if he is going to leave Juventus at any time, we are there."

"He's an amazing person, so we'll see what happens with Ronaldo. I think anyone who's played with him will have a weakness for him."

Deal expiration announcement

Speaking at a press conference before the match between his team and Arsenal on Saturday, Guardiola was hesitant about entering this possibility.

"I can't say much," he said. "Harry Kane has announced that he is continuing with his club, an exceptional club like Tottenham. Cristiano plays for Juventus, I can't add anything else."

He added, "In the remaining three or four days until the end of the summer transfer period anything can happen, but - from my vision - there are a few players, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who decide where they want to play."

He added, confirming the end of the deal, "I say the same, Cristiano will decide where he wants to play, it is not Manchester City nor I who decide. Now things seem very far away."

Earlier today, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri informed that his future would be elsewhere.

Allegri said - at a press conference held today to talk about the team's match against Empoli in the Italian league - "Cristiano told me yesterday that he no longer has any intention of playing with Juventus. That is why we will not include him in tomorrow's match."

And Allegri added - in the statements published by Juventus on his official account on Twitter - "Cristiano deserves thanks for what he has done, and for what he has set as a model for young players, but as I said we have to move forward."

"Things change, this is the law of life. Juventus will remain, and that is the most important thing. Cristiano made his contributions, made himself available, now he is leaving and life will go on."
