Every day, Anicet Mbida makes us discover an innovation that could well change the way we consume.

This Monday, he is interested in a technique that allows to increase the life expectancy of his dog thanks to a start-up which carries out in-depth analyzes on the animal.

The innovation of the day is a service that is gaining a lot of attention at the moment.

A startup is proposing to increase the life expectancy of our companion dogs.

It sounds crazy, but you'll see, it's pretty serious.

This is a service offered by an American startup Embark VeteRinary.

At the moment, she keeps raising money.

To tell you, it is valued close to a billion dollars.

Why ?

Because it simply promises to lengthen the life of a dog by at least 3 years.

Remember that dogs only live between 6 and 15 years.

It is very short for mammals, even shorter when you have become attached to your animal.

So 3 more years, obviously, that calls out.

How do they do it?

Nothing magic, no makeover.

We simply send them a DNA sample (saliva, for example).

They will then analyze it, identify certain genetic traits and screen for more than 200 potential health risks.

At the end, they give a list of tips: medications to avoid, diet to follow, recommended exercises, etc.

And it's proven, does it really save 3 years of life expectancy?

No.

For the three years, nothing is proven.

But he is sure that by keeping his dog in good health, in principle, he will live longer.

An example: if the test shows that his dog has a gene that predisposes him to herniated discs.

It will be necessary to pay more attention to his weight and avoid making him jump on the sofa.

This genetic approach is much more reliable with dogs, because there are breeds that we are looking to breed them.

They have a pedigree.

It would work less well with humans.

Do you know why the company is creating the buzz right now?

Until now, their service was only offered to veterinarians and breeders.

Now they are preparing a kit for the general public.

Which obviously interests a lot of people.
