National female boxer Jawaher Gharib won the bronze medal in the Asian Championships for women in the weight of 46 kilograms, held at the Le Meridien Airport Hotel in Dubai, to become the third female boxer to win a medal after Hanan Al-Zyoudi and Rahma Al-Murshidi, after losing in the semi-finals to Uzbekistan’s Geneva.

Jawaher gave a distinguished performance in the tournament, but faced a high tactic from the champion of Uzbekistan to settle for the bronze, which is the first medal for the UAE in the current tournament, while Jassem Al-Naqbi is expected to win the bronze in the junior competitions, in addition to a valuable opportunity for the rest of the women's team boxers.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Boxing Federation, Hassan Al Hammadi, told "Emirates Today": "We congratulate the Emirati boxing family for the qualitative leap in female boxing, and we are pleased that the achievement coincided with the celebration of Emirati Women's Day, and this is a great achievement for the presence of our daughters in the continental boxing rings, and a step forward. We will work to strengthen it and the process continues.”

In turn, the coach of the UAE boxing teams, Mohammed Al-Shibli, said: "Emirati women's wearing of boxing gloves and the team shirt is an achievement in itself, especially since a team that is no more than two years old and facing advanced women's boxing teams that dates back to 25 years ago is a great achievement."

He added: “We expect to win two new gold or silver medals in the final round after the boxers Rahma Al-Murshidi and Maryam Adel qualified, while we expect another bronze for the player Shahd Khamis. So far, it is a great achievement that we will work on developing in the future.”

The heroine, Jawaher, told "Emirates Today": "Every beginning is difficult and I realize that, and I am happy to contribute to raising the UAE flag on the international podiums, and I wish success to my colleagues, and thanks to my generous family, my coaches Adel Al-Ashry and Fujairah Martial Arts Club, and my colleagues who encourage me and everyone, and I will continue My training is for a better achievement.”

She added, "I feel very happy to participate in the tournament and represent the UAE in competitions, an experience through which I am looking forward to winning the continental competitions, and despite the loss in the semi-final match against the Uzbek player, but I feel happy to stand in the ring in front of a player who precedes me with her technical strength as an international boxer with her achievements." And this is the beginning and I hope to achieve more, and I realize that every start is difficult, but thanks to the support of the Boxing Federation, the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, my family, and my coaches, Captain Mohamed Musabeh and Captain Adel Al-Ashry, I will continue my training for the better.”
