The new rule in the SDHL means that each team must have a certain number of home-grown players in the team line-up for each match.

To be considered a homeschooled person, you must have represented a Swedish association for at least three years from the age of 15-21.

The proportion of players who must be educated at home will increase year by year.

- The background is that foreign players have increased steadily for a long time in SDHL, which to some extent limited the opportunity for Swedish players to take a place in the team.

This affects Swedish girls' and women's hockey adversely in many contexts and with this new rule we get a better balance that is intended to benefit the development of Swedish players, says Gizela Ahlgren Bloom.

- The rule is developed to promote talent development, so that young home-grown players will have the chance for more playing time.

Ahlgren Bloom believes that the new rule will benefit the Women's Crowns, which currently do not belong to the A-WC.

- We agree that Damkronorna will be in the A-WC again and then the clubs need to take their responsibility, she says.

Last season, the top five players in SDHL's scoring were not from Sweden.
