It was a high-class qualifier in the recognized fast cycling velodrome in Izu, three hours southwest of Tokyo, with no less than three world records.

First out was German Denise Schindler who was noted for 3.57.

Then Xiaomei Wang, China, hit 3.55 before Paige Greco, Australia, was noted for an impressive 3.52.

For the Swedish gold jumper Anna Beck it was heavier.

The 41-year-old debutant finished sixth at 4.03 and was thus three seconds away from fourth place which had given a final ticket.

- I had much higher goals than this, so I am dissatisfied.

I thought I printed what was available, but the times were not better than that, Beck says to SVT Sport.

However, she has two chances left in the Paralympics - the tempo race on 31 August and the line race on 2 September.
