A few hours after conceding a defeated draw against Clermont on Sunday, Olympique Lyonnais announced that they had reached an agreement in principle to recruit attacking midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Swiss international arrived in Lyon on Monday morning to undergo his medical examination, on which the validation of the transfer which would be 11 million euros (bonus included) is conditional.

While the Times mentioned an agreement between Liverpool and OL for a transfer of around 11 million euros, L'Equipe speaks for its part of a much lower amount (6 million euros) to which could be added various bonus.

Shaqiri, executioner of the Blues at the Euro

Aged 29, Shaqiri has 96 caps for the Swiss team with which he eliminated France in the round of 16 of the Euro on June 28.

In addition, Shaqiri has participated in three World Cups (2010, 2014, 2018) and Euro-2016.

The midfielder has played for Basel, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Stoke City and Liverpool where he has been playing since 2018.
