The Dubai Sports Council began planning for the return of the masses more than a year ago when it called for the “Return of the masses to sports stadiums” forum in June of 2020 to draw a road map for the safe return of sports fans of different groups, nationalities and sports.
During the forum, the Dubai Sports Council designed a model for the fans to sit in the stadiums and halls in the main podium of Al Maktoum Stadium and the closed hall in the club, in accordance with safety standards and approved distancing procedures, to be ready for implementation in all stadiums when approved and the official decision issued by the competent government agencies to return the fans to the stadiums.
The forum invited a number of experts and various gaming stars, as the participants included Spanish football star Michel Salgado, Director of Golf Operations in the Middle East, Tom Phillips, Director of the Medical Department of the European Tour of Golf, Andrew Murray and Media Director of the Hungarian Federation Football Jericho Szabo.
Representatives of the Dubai Police General Command, Dubai clubs, sports federations, media representatives and social media media professionals also participated.
The Dubai Sports Council recommended the launch of a protocol for the return of sports fans, and the establishment of a workshop for stadium officials and security companies in cooperation with the Dubai Police, to ensure the safe attendance of the masses and in a manner that preserves the measures taken by the state to address the “Corona” pandemic.
The Dubai Sports Council continued its efforts towards the return of the public, as it issued a decision in mid-November to the presence of 30% of the fans to follow the sports events and activities that are held in Danat Al Dunya after obtaining the approval of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai and the Supreme Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai, in order to return masses.
The experience was applied to a number of tournaments held in boxing, golf, cricket, basketball, polo, the Red Bull Car Championship and Car Park Drift, and body building after setting the precautionary protocols for each sport and for the different age groups, which ensure the protection of Athletes, those working in organizing sports events and the masses, as all the sports events that were organized during that period came out without the “Corona” pandemic having any effect on them.

Rostom: The return of the masses raises the "tempo" of the competition
The head of the Al-Ahly Youth Club Supporters Association, Abdul Majeed Rostom, confirmed that the return of the fans to the stands during the league competitions is something that will serve the championship and raise the pace of competition between clubs, which ultimately serves both the competition and the national team.
Rostom said in statements to "Emirates Today", perhaps the attendance was not up to the aspirations in the first round, but with the passage of time and the improvement of the weather, things will differ more because the fans have a great passion for attending the stands and encouraging their clubs, which I missed for quite a while because of Corona pandemic.
