The Secretary-General of the Swimming Federation, Abdullah Al-Wahaibi, expressed his concern about the future of swimming in the country, and said that “swimming is in danger because most clubs have reduced the technical and administrative equipment for swimming teams, while other clubs have frozen the game for financial reasons, and Al-Wasl Club is the last of the warriors.”

Al-Wahaibi praised the great effort made by Al-Wasl Club to preserve the sport of swimming, prepare swimmers, and preserve the large base of players within the limits of the available capabilities.

Al-Wahaibi told "Emirates Today": "The last period witnessed a pause due to the Corona pandemic, but some clubs returned to training according to precautionary measures, which was done by Al-Wasl Club through a number of its distinguished swimmers who succeeded in winning Gulf medals recently."

He added: “I would like to thank Al-Wasl Club for what it is doing to maintain the base of the distinguished swimmers and coaches that the federation has used in the last period, due to the lack of contracting with a coach for the national teams, in order to give room to the new board of directors, which will lead the federation to choose the appropriate coach, and he did not delay Al-Wasl Club expressed its support for Al-Ittihad and its assistance so that the participation can come out well.”

Al-Wahaibi pointed out that Emirati swimming needs to combine efforts and help the federation to form strong teams in order to ensure the appearance of Emirati sports in the upcoming foreign participations with the beginning of the return to official tournaments, especially that the UAE is on a date with hosting the Arab Championship next October and the World Swimming Championships in Abu Dhabi in December next.

The swimming teams had participated in the 28th Gulf Cooperation Council Water Games Championship with the presence of 18 swimmers in various stages, including 14 from Al-Wasl Club, and four from Al-Fujairah Club, which shows the complete absence of clubs from supporting the national teams with distinguished swimmers, which affects On our Gulf and Arab results, the UAE achieved seven medals in the Sunni stages championship, three gold, one silver and three bronze, while four medals (gold, two silver and bronze) were achieved in the general championship competitions.

Al-Ghilani told "Emirates Today": "Emirates swimming is sinking, and reducing budgets has greatly harmed us.

There is no official suspension, but the game has been suspended so far, which is detrimental to the Emirati swimming, which participated in the Gulf Championship at Al Wasl Club, and four swimmers in the junior stages of the Fujairah Club. 70 swimmers are in the game and all of them are currently suspended.
