Olympic tennis champion Alexander Zverev has dramatically reached the final at the ATP tournament in Cincinnati.

Against the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas on Saturday evening (local time), Zverev turned two breaks behind in the semifinals at 1: 4 in the third set and won 6: 4, 3: 6, 7: 6 (7: 4).

"Incredible game," he said to his opponent while he was congratulating him on the net.

During the game, Zverev was very upset about Tsitsipas because of a long toilet break.

Despite the mind game, Zverev was already 2-0 up in the second set, but then lost four games in a row and the set.

In the third sentence he also had stomach problems, looked completely exhausted and had to be helped.

Nevertheless, he finally pulled the game over to his side after 2:41 hours.

In the final against Andrei Rublev

One week before the start of the US Open, Zverev is in the final.

There he meets the Russian Andrei Rublev, who surprisingly won 2: 6, 6: 3, 6: 3 against his compatriot Daniil Medvedev.

Angelique Kerber had previously lost her semifinals. The Kiel woman lost to world number one Ashleigh Barty after 1:14 hours with 2: 6, 5: 7 in the WTA tournament, which was also held in Cincinnati. In the final, Barty meets the Swiss Jil Teichmann, who surprisingly beat fourth in the world ranking Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic 6: 2, 6: 4.
