Liverpool FC presented themselves in excellent form on matchday two of the English Premier League.

A week after the sovereign 3-0 win in Norwich, the Reds defeated Burnley FC 2-0 (1-0) at home on Saturday.

Diogo Jota (18th minute) and Sadio Mané (69th) met in the sold-out Anfield stadium for the acclaimed home win for the team of soccer teacher Jürgen Klopp.

For Liverpool it was the first league home game in front of spectators in around a year and a half and the ninth win in a row in the first home game of the season.

The guests from Burnley performed aggressively and physically in Anfield, but had little to oppose the superior football champions of 2020, who increased the pace in the second half, offensively.

Liverpool's home win could have been higher.

A goal from Mohamed Salah after 26th minutes was not given by the video referee because of a wafer-thin offside position.

Burnley equalized in between, but striker Ashley Barnes was clearly offside.

The second goal from Liverpool was particularly worth seeing, when the defensive boss Virgil van Dijk, who had returned after a cruciate ligament rupture, played a strong ball on the outside and in the further course of the scene with only a few contacts Mané was found in the center, who finished confidently.
