Anna Nordqvist takes a real step up in the results list in the British Open in golf.

She went up in an early lead after three rounds played after a 65 round, seven under par.

It is two strokes better than the second round's second best result.

The 34-year-old is a total of nine under par.

Together with Danish Nanna Koerstz Madsen, she shares the lead one stroke ahead of American Lizette Salas at eight under par.

It rained over Scottish Carnoustie on Saturday, which did not disturb the experienced Swede who made no mistakes but instead seven birdies.

- Linksgolf really tests your patience and I think I have had a great attitude so far this week, she says according to Swedish golf and continues:

- I am very happy with my round, but I have played for so long now that I know that you can not control everything, some days will be good and others bad, everything I can do is my best, Nordqvist said after the round.

Double bogey on the ninth

Madelene Sagström was in the lead for a while but a double bogey on the ninth hole destroyed an otherwise very nice round with six birdies after 15 holes played.

Sagström is divided four by a total of seven under par.

World setter Nelly Korda is split eight by 6 under par ahead of Sunday.

So does American Yealimi Noh, who lost four strokes during the last three holes.

The British Open is not the major in which Nordqvist has played best, she has a seventh place as the best. The Swede has two other major victories - in the PGA Championships and in the Evian Championship.
