The playmaker of the national basketball team, Jassem Abdel Reda (40 years), revealed that he has officially moved to Al-Bataeh and defended the team’s colors in the new season 2021-2022, stressing that his relationship with his former team “Shabab Al-Ahly” had ended by mutual consent.

Abdul Reda told "Emirates Today", "My belief in the ambitious project of the Al-Bataeh basket was behind the step of contracting with the team, especially since the team succeeded, over the past two seasons, in being a difficult number, and took the third place in the league."

He explained: "Despite the recentness of the Al-Bataeh Basket, which recorded its first attendance in the 2018-2019 season, the team quickly managed, with the support of the club management and the Sharjah Sports Council, to battle the game's seniors, achieve remarkable results in local competitions, and have an ambitious project in competition for Titles, like the main motivator in deciding to sign him, to be part of this project and help the team achieve its goals.”

He added: “The end of my consensual relationship with (Shabab Al-Ahly) facilitated the task in moving to Al-Bataeh, and signing a contract for one season, especially since the goals set by Al-Bataeh’s board of directors came to me very promising, both in renewing the team’s blood and concluding several contracts in preparation for the local season. During which to compete for one of the titles of its competitions, in addition to the mechanisms established to continue the development process of the game, by providing opportunities for friction at the highest level, and recording the first historic participation of the club’s basket in the Arab Champions Clubs Championship, which will be held in Alexandria next October.

He continued: “Despite reaching the age of 40, my passion for the game, victories and winning titles is still great, which prompted me to search for new challenges, and I look forward to success in my new experience, after a long career in the Emirates basket, in which I achieved remarkable achievements, whether in the national team shirt, or clubs. She played in her ranks, especially the youth (formerly), and the Al-Ahly youth recently, with which she achieved foreign and local titles, most notably the historical trilogy with the youth in 2011, through the league and cup championships, and the Gulf champions clubs.

Regarding the decision to retire, Abdul Redha concluded by saying: “The decision to retire is still far away, but when I make this decision, I will remain in a relationship with basketball, in light of my constant keenness to attend the local and international courses for coaches, in an effort to transfer my experiences to the next generation, and enter the world of coaching that There is a scarcity at the level of the citizen coach, and it is currently limited to elements that do not exceed the number of fingers on one hand, most notably the able coach Abdul Hamid Ibrahim, who represents a role model for me, and who was the first to encourage me to the decision to go to the world of training, and pushed me in 2019 to work as an assistant to God when he was He coaches the national team.
