The Football Association at its headquarters in Dubai, the day before yesterday, organized a workshop on the video assistant referee technology for representatives of various media. The Director of the Referees Department gave a detailed explanation to the workshop participants, including representatives of local newspapers, sports channels, arbitration experts and analysts in local sports channels, regarding the items related to the use of video assistant referee technology, and he also reviewed, through videos, some arbitration cases in which video assistant referee technology was used. In addition to reviewing the new amendments made by the International Federation of Football Associations to the laws of the video assistant referee.

During the workshop, Robert Lee referred to the situation in which VAR technology should be used in four situations related to goals, penalties, direct red cards and offside cases.

The workshop was attended by the Vice-Chairman of the Referees Committee, the former international referee, Muhammad Omar Al-Shammari, and the technical official for the referees’ residents and lecturers in the Football Association, Ahmed Yaqoub.

The workshop touched on the visits made by the referees committee to the clubs, stressing that the visits aimed to build a positive working relationship between the players and the stadium judges, and the importance of the players dealing with the match referees in a positive way.

For his part, Vice-Chairman of the Referees Committee, Muhammad Omar, said that there are 34 referees, including field referees, assistant referees and video assistant referees, who will be present in the league matches during the new season.
