The death of former Bayern and Germany legend Muller

Bayern Munich, the German Bundesliga champion, said on Sunday that its former star, Gerd Muller, had died at the age of 75.

And Muller, the former German national team player, is considered one of the greatest goalscorers that the football field has produced throughout its history, and he scored 68 goals in 62 international matches with the West German team, which won the World Cup with him in 1974.

He is also the third-highest goal scorer in the history of the World Cup with 14 goals, only surpassed by Brazilian Ronaldo with 15 goals and German Miroslav Klose with 16 goals.

The late player also won the European Championship 1972 with the national team.

Muller joined Bayern Munich in 1964 and scored 566 goals in 607 official matches and was distinguished by his high skills in the air and his speed as well as his scoring abilities.

At the level of the German League, Muller set a record number of goals during his career, which is 365 goals, and was crowned during his career full of titles in the German League four times and the European Cup three times with the Bavarian club.

"Today is a sad and dark day for Bayern and all their fans. Gerd Muller was the greatest striker of all time and he was a gentleman. He was an outstanding figure in world football," Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer said in a statement.

"Everyone, along with his wife O'Shea and his family, is deeply saddened. Without Gerd Muller, Bayern Munich would not have the image we all love today. His name will remain and his memory will remain forever."

Bayern Munich did not disclose details of the death of its former player, while its chief executive, Oliver Kahn, said that the news of the death had a profound impact on everyone.

"He is one of the greatest legends in the history of Bayern, the owner of unique and outstanding achievements to this day, and he will forever remain a part of the great history of Bayern and all German football," Kahn said.

Kahn added, "As a player and as a person, Gerd Müller has been outstanding at Bayern throughout its development as one of the biggest clubs in the world. He will remain in our hearts forever."
