In recent years, we have seen a record slaughter at many running distances, after various shoe companies developed new shoes - with an advanced technology that makes runners run faster.

And it also became a world record during the Olympics in Tokyo.

In athletics, there was a record for two running distances, the ladies' and men's 400 meter hurdles.

Arndt will check

In addition, a record was also set in the ladies' triple jump, where Venezuela's Yulimar Rojas jumped a full 15.67, 17 centimeters longer than Inessa Kravet's record from the Gothenburg World Cup in 1995.

But before these records are officially approved, the shoes must be checked.

And this is happening in Sweden, as GIH professor Toni Arndt is the one who carries out these checks, where it is ensured that the shoes follow the existing regulations.

- It will be a little fun, says Arndt, who does not think there will be any doubts about any of the shoes:

- These are pure formalities.

But it also sends a signal that we are keeping an eye on them.

But we have their "specification sheet", and have received pictures of the shoes from Tokyo.

So we already know quite a bit about them.

"So incredibly soft"

A shoe that he already has very good control of is the one that Karsten Warholm ran on, in the magical 400 meter hurdles final - where also runner-up Rai Benjamin was below the previous world record and thus also has to send his shoes for analysis.

Warholm set a world record in July, in Oslo.

And even then, the shoes were sent to Stockholm for analysis.

- It is so incredibly soft, there is probably only one person who can run in them in that way.

It has no cushioning and no cushions or anything like that, just a rigid carbon fiber plate, says Toni Arndt to SVT Sport.
