The Italian Football League said today, Friday, that it has agreed to broadcast some matches of the league championship in the Middle East and North Africa through YouTube, after negotiations to sell broadcasting rights for the tournament to any of the television networks in the region faltered.

The association has been seeking for several months to conclude a deal to sell the rights to broadcast the league matches - in the next three seasons - in the region.

After a video conference, the association said - in a statement - that it "decided to move forward with the establishment of an Arabic-speaking channel via the YouTube platform."

The statement added, "The channel will broadcast 5 matches in each round of the league, and the broadcast will be limited to the mentioned region."

Sources close to this matter said that the Italian League clubs agreed to broadcast matches via YouTube for a year, and that this broadcast would stop if an agreement was reached to sell broadcasting rights in the region.
