For the first time in 74 years, Brentford were back in the English Premier League.

Pontus Jansson played the entire match and was team captain when his team hosted Arsenal ahead of a packed home arena.

Arsenal missed star strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, among others, due to illness.

It was the newcomer who started best.

Bryan Mbeumo ran through and was close to giving the home team the lead when he shot the ball into the post.

In the end, the management goal also came.

After 22 minutes of play, Sergi Canos fired a real cannon which went into goal behind Bernd Leno in the Arsenal goal.

And Brentford got off to a dream start in the Premier League and the match.

Danish match hero

In the second half, Arsenal played a bit.

Emile Smith Rowe did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.

Granit Xhaka was also close with a shot that went just over the bar.

But instead of a draw, Brentford stepped up and extended the lead.

After a long throw, the Danish midfielder, Christian Nörgaard, was able to nod in 2-0 for the home team.

It was the end result of the match and Brentford started the Premier League in the best possible way.
