In recent years, Russians have become accustomed to the fact that the country regularly receives the right to host major international tournaments.

The 2014 Olympic Games, the World Cup and the Continental Football Championship, the Winter and Summer Universiades are just an incomplete list of events that the country has organized in less than ten years.

The process was paused only by the sanctions imposed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

However, the leadership of the state seems to be ready to join the fight for another forum - OI-2036.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said this at a meeting with the Olympians who returned from Tokyo.

He noted that such a possibility is indeed being considered and applications are being prepared from several cities at once, including St. Petersburg and Kazan.

Earlier, Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin spoke about the desire to organize the second summer Olympics in the country's history.

According to him, Russia "has all the necessary resources" to conduct it.

“I hope before that there will be an opportunity to host other major tournaments: World and European Championships, stages of the World Cups.

Our country has potential, as well as the desire of the sports community.

Russia has always been and remains the most reliable partner of the Olympic movement ", - quotes the words of the official" R-Sport ".

At the same time, Matytsin stressed that "if the president decides to nominate Russia as a candidate," the competition between the country's regions for the right to host the Olympic Games will be "significant."

This desire has already been announced in Kazan.

Back in early June, the Minister of Sports of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov admitted that the region has long dreamed of the Olympics, but it is too early to talk about filing an application because of the sanctions imposed by the CAS.

“As soon as the opportunity arises, we will work on this topic with the federal center, since the application is submitted not by the city or republic, but by the country.

And there you need certain guarantees from the government.

The whole roadmap is clear.

Kazan is the most prepared city in the country for the Summer Games.

If we are talking about 2036, then this is too long a period of time.

Something will require updating, ”Leonov stressed.

In response, ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov admitted that he did not know anything about Kazan's intentions, although he noted the rich experience of the capital of Tatarstan in organizing major competitions.

“The Olympic Charter provides for the submission of applications for the Olympic Games and the determination of the city only by the National Olympic Committees.

We treat Kazan's desire to become the capital of the Summer Olympics in the future with understanding and respect.

The capital of Tatarstan has opportunities, infrastructure and experience in organizing major competitions at the highest level, ”the head of the ROC suggested.

As for St. Petersburg, in the Northern capital, they have not yet publicly announced their desire to hold the Olympic Games.

At the same time, the city applied for the Olympic Games-2004, but did not insist on the previously submitted application and did not get into the list of five finalists.

But they did not hide their intentions in Vladivostok.

Two years ago, the head of the Primorsky Territory, Oleg Kozhemyako, at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) called the intention to compete for OI-2036 as a "good idea" and promised to do it in five years.

Then Pozdnyakov advised the regional authorities to prepare the necessary infrastructure by 2025.

It is not yet known exactly when the capital of OI-2036 will be determined, but usually this happens seven years before the start of the main sports forum.

Nevertheless, Brisbane received the right to host the Olympic Games-2032 already in 2021.

It is still difficult to say who can compete with Russia.

In Asia, they want to host the Olympics in Indian Ahmedabad and Indonesian Jakarta.

Both cities have expressed interest in organizing OI-2032.

In Europe, two joint applications are going to compete for the Games at once: London-Birmingham-Liverpool-Manchester (England) and Berlin (Germany) -Tel Aviv (Israel).

But, perhaps, the most resolutely disposed in Istanbul, where they have already stated that they are confident in their own victory.

Finally, in North America, joint applications from several cities at once may also enter the fight: Montreal-Quebec-Toronto-Ottawa (Canada) and Guadalajara-Mexico-Tijuana-Monterrey (Mexico).

"We, like no one else, know how to organize a major tournament"

Experts interviewed by RT called the holding of Olympic Games-2036 in Russia a great idea, which will give a serious impetus to the development of sports in the country. At the same time, most of them noted that if Russia wins, it is necessary to prepare well in order to successfully perform at these Games. Four-time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Alexei Nemov called work on the most medal-intensive sports as his main task.

“We are talking about artistic gymnastics, swimming and so on.

We need to revive athletics, which, unfortunately, is mired in scandals.

In these forms, we must provide ourselves with good chances for awards, because all of them will then go to the team's piggy bank.

If we take more global things, it is difficult to single out one thing, for example, improving the infrastructure.

Here it is more likely to talk about working in a complex.

The conditions for training in sports schools, sports medicine and the competence of children's coaches all go together.

Russia always strives for victory, so we have no other options, ”the famous gymnast explained in an interview with RT.

According to him, in 2036, you can compete for victory in the medal standings with the United States and China.

Did I think before that I could achieve something like this?

But in life everything is real, the main thing is to want and do it.

There are 15 years left before OI-2036, but we need to start working today, and regardless of whether we get the right to hold them or not, ”Nemov added.

In turn, the head coach of the national synchronized swimming team Tatiana Pokrovskaya, although she was glad about the possible holding of the Olympic Games-2036 in Russia, stressed that it was necessary to seriously work on the infrastructure in 15 years.

“If we talk about problems, we obviously do not have enough sports facilities.

In aquatic species, for example, there are not enough pools.

Even in Moscow there is no such pool in which it would be possible to host the largest international competitions such as the World and European Championships.

What can we say about the regions ... Swimming pools in Russia are just a disaster.

Take the huge Siberia, so there are practically none.

I'm talking about those objects that meet international standards, including in terms of footage, and not those where you can just learn to swim.

There are not enough places where the national team could train and where it would be possible to organize competitions, ”said the specialist.

At the same time, she believes that the very fact of organizing the Olympic Games-2036 in Russia will serve as a powerful driver for the development of sports in the country, and its prestige will increase dramatically after numerous doping scandals.

“Of course, I would like Russia to receive the right to host the most important sporting event of the four years and finally return to the Olympic family.

Moreover, the sanctions were largely undeserved.

I would like all this to end before the owner of the Olympic Games is determined, ”Pokrovskaya added.

But the president of the Russian Wrestling Federation, Mikhail Mamiashvili, named the work of children's coaches as the main problem.

But, according to him, a lot is already changing in this area.

In his opinion, despite everything that has happened in recent years, the attitude of sports officials towards Russia remains positive, and therefore there is every chance of getting the right to host the Olympic Games.

“It is necessary to follow all the steps prescribed in the road book for the restoration of ARAF.

It is important for our athletes to stay “clean”.

The second point is that there are as many as 15 years left before the Olympic Games-2036.

I think that several IOC presidents will be replaced during this time.

There is no doubt that we, like no one else, know how to organize a major tournament, ensure the safety of participants, and meet guests.

All these are important advantages of the domestic application.

I was a member of the 2018 World Cup bid committee and I know that the international community is interested in Russia.

It is important here to separate politicians and sports officials.

The latter, for the most part, proceed precisely from the interests of sports, and not the conjuncture, "said Koloskov.

Finally, State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev considers the possible holding of the Olympics in Russia "a colossal leap forward."

He cited Sochi as an example.

“Conducting an OI is not a waste, but an investment.

Russia is a rich country, and it should channel funds to the regions through such global projects.

And the Olympics will become a powerful driver, ”the deputy stressed.

At the same time, he spoke positively about the idea of ​​a joint application following the example of colleagues from other countries.

“In recent years, St. Petersburg has become a very beautiful city.

The state invests a lot of money there.

In my opinion, even ten years ago it was scary to come: a gray nondescript place with sad weather.

And holding the Olympic Games will make it even more beautiful.

Kazan flourished after the 2013 Universiade.

In Krasnoyarsk, order was restored for the 2019 Universiade.

To hold an Olympic Games in St. Petersburg is a great idea.

He is almost ready for them.

But it would be even better to submit a joint application with several cities, ”the deputy added.
