The

2,700 million euros

that CVC will inject into LaLiga in exchange for a percentage of its participation in the business will not be a blank check for the 42 clubs that make up the competition. They will be articulated in the form of loans at 0% interest, but they will not be granted automatically to whoever requests it depending on what corresponds to them, but a Commission will be in charge of studying the applications and granting said loans.

As is already well known, 15% of the money that corresponds to each club may be used to expand salary limits (a pressing need for many in the short term), another 15% to pay off debts derived from the Covid-19 crisis and the another 70% to improve infrastructure. A section, the latter, very broad, which is not only limited to stadiums, sports cities or social venues, but also covers the professional structures of the clubs, which are very precarious in Spain compared to those of

LaLiga

, aware of this lack of personnel and resources that responds to the very corporate culture of Spanish football, has been insisting for years and helping clubs to professionalize their non-sports structures. A few years ago it was not strange that a single person was in charge of the marketing and communication of a small club or, even, that in Segunda there were press officers who in turn worked for a local medium. Today, it is unthinkable.

Along these lines, any project for which a club demands financing must be backed by a commitment to professionalize its structure, based on three axes: communication, marketing and data.

"It will be like what happens to the EU countries with European Funds, you will have money at your disposal, but you will have to meet a series of requirements to access it," they explain from a Primera club.

Once this information has been collected, and based on predefined parameters, the Commission created for this purpose will evaluate each application.

A deep professionalization

Finally, LaLiga intends to take advantage of the torrent of money that its agreement with

CVC will bring

to professionalize the structure of the clubs, with the mind set on the clubs being able to enhance their presence and popularity in foreign markets, complementing the collective actions of the competition. Given the stagnation of national television rights, the strategy of the competition is to increase its value in other countries, mainly in those that are not already taken by the

Premier League

.

"In the coming years we will experience a 'boom' in the hiring of staff in the clubs. In the end, the directives tend to prioritize that all the money in the account is in the field and leave aside that facet that allows us to continue growing at the entity, unless they have an incentive to bet on it. Now, if the agreement with CVC is approved, they will have it, "adds a source familiar with the fine print.
