Embodying the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to raise the level of quality of life and enhance Dubai’s position to become the best city to live, the most active and healthy in the world, and in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, aiming to transform Dubai into a bike-friendly city, Dubai Municipality announced the implementation of a 50-kilometre sand bike track in the forests of Mushrif National Park, as the first sand track of its kind in Dubai.

The implementation of the project comes to provide suitable alternatives to encourage residents to practice cycling, apply international best practices in infrastructure development to match the use of this environmentally safe sports method, and apply the latest relevant safety and security requirements, as the track extends for 20 kilometers in the first phase. And 30 km in the second phase, and between more than 70,000 trees, to add to the total of existing and planned cycle paths in Dubai by adding 276 km, bringing the total length of bicycle paths in Dubai to 739 km by 2026.

On this occasion, Daoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said, "The sand bike track project in the forests of Mushrif National Park is a qualitative addition to the package of infrastructure projects, services and facilities implemented by the Dubai government, to encourage sports and recreational activities to raise the quality of life in the emirate."

He added: "The width of the track in its first part is three meters, and passes in a zigzag way between the forest paths of Mushrif National Park, to accommodate more than 3000 cyclists per day. Dedicated for a quick return linked to 3 resting sites in addition to two workshops for repairing and renting bikes. The track is characterized by roughness that reaches the highest level (red) in a smooth flow that suits amateurs who practice this sport from beginners as well. The track also contains three crossing bridges as a first stage, up to 10 bridges At the end of the implementation of the project, it will be the new destination in the emirate for sports and adventure enthusiasts, and a future destination for hosting regional and international competitions, pointing out that the track was designed according to the best international standards and specifications, and in line with the nature of the region and the requirements of amateur and professional users, to encourage residents and visitors to practice the sport of riding. bikessandy;
