For over 50 years, Göran had sports journalism as his field of work and his importance for sports reporting on television and for Swedish golf cannot be measured.

When Göran grew up in Djursholm outside Stockholm, a place he remained faithful to all his life, sport was a natural part of life.

Sailing, gymnastics, swimming, swimming, high jump, bandy and alpine - he tested everything.

But it was golf he encountered in his teens that became his great love and passion.

In the 60's he worked as an editor for the magazine Svensk Golf but in 1965 he got the chance to comment on American golf films for Swedish Radio (today SVT).

Göran and tv turned out to be the perfect combination.

For 27 years he became faithful to TV sports (SVT Sport) and it was during these years that Göran invented the sports report for television and made himself known as a low-key and characteristic golf commentator.

With courage, curiosity and unique formulations, Göran developed the TV story.

And he collaborated with photographers and sound engineers to make the story more vivid, more intimate, more explanatory.

The result was style-forming reports that touched.

And his storytelling technique and working methods came to inspire many sports journalists, not least profiles such as Jens Lind and Bernt Lagergren.

Göran Zachrisson broke new ground and made an impression with a storytelling tradition that we at SVT Sport still cherish, a proud legacy.

His report was often published in Sportspegeln and the stories built both the program and Göran's brand.

Göran was careful with preparations and had a seldom seen sense of detail.

When he commented on golf, he could at the moment see, reflect and find stories in moments that otherwise would have easily passed.

Göran was pedagogical and did not communicate to the TV audience, he communicated with the viewers.

His art of formulation was even collected in a book with quotes:

"The only thing I know about this putt is that it is a quarter to three"

"He is built like an iron net and can be sent postage-free all over the world"

"The ball lands on the green like a butterfly with sore feet"

Göran had the world as his field of work, traveled for many months every year in the service and did reports with the sports world's biggest name.

Göran was also a big name himself, an elegant person who even had a career as a model at times.

His sober, sophisticated manner and sparse language matched the stylish and traditional golf sport.

After the 1992 Olympics, Göran Zachrisson left SVT for TV3 and Viasat, where he became the TV company's major golf profile.

He continued in the profession until he was over 80 years old.

TV storytelling and golf were and became Göran's life in many ways.

Whoever tells the best story wins, a senior TV executive once said.

If that's true, Göran Zachrisson is currently sitting at the top of the podium with a gold medal around his neck and telling new stories in the golfing heaven.
