A total of three players and a co-coach tested positive for the virus, ten other people were quarantined by the health department, as the 05er announced on Wednesday.

The club canceled team training on Wednesday on the advice of the authorities, but in view of the number of acute cases, which has recently increased daily, the question also arises: Can it even play against RB Leipzig on Sunday (3:30 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the Bundesliga and at DAZN) become? Few game cancellations so far

The people of Mainz are “in close contact” with the local health department and the German Football League (DFL).

In the top German division there have so far only been a few game cancellations due to corona cases, in the preseason Hertha BSC was affected and had to make up three games.

In Mainz, three players and a co-coach are now infected, plus eight other professionals and two other assistants in quarantine.

The Mainz team did not provide information about who was sent into isolation and why and who was not.

According to the "Bild-Zeitung", those in quarantine who are not fully vaccinated are among the contact persons.

In order to be able to play against Leipzig, Mainz needs 13 active players, including a goalkeeper.

The 05er reported on Onisiwos positive test on Sunday immediately before the cup game against SV Elversberg, which they won on penalties. In the tweet, the Bundesliga club had written that the rest of the team had tested negative in the tests on Friday and Saturday. That changed now this week.
