Colton Herta looked like a winner in Nashville for a long time.

The American dominated the qualifiers and had the fastest car on the track.

It was Herta who caused the second and last red flag when he put the car in the wall six laps from goal.

Herta tried in vain to catch up with the fleeing Swedish leader and made a costly mistake.

Ericsson was able to keep out of teammate Scott Dixon during the two final laps.

Marcus was noticeably moved in the victory interview in Viasat Motor.

- This is unbelievable, he said and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

Just as expected, it became crowded and messy when Nashville hosted an Indicar race for the first time.

Ericsson touched the wall already in the qualifiers and was forced to chase from the ninth starting line.

Crashed early

Marcus quickly took three places, but seemed to have ruined all chances for a top result when he drove into Sebastian Bourdai's car in connection with the first restart on the fifth lap.

The Frenchman seemed to lose speed while Ericsson increased the pace and the collision was inevitable.

Bourdais was forced to break but Ericsson was able to continue the race from the bottom after changing the front wing and a ten-second time penalty "stop and go".

The race was red-flagged already after 20 laps when another crash occurred in connection with a new restart.

Now with several cars involved when there was a total stop in the finish line.

Ericsson managed with luck and great skill to get all the way up in the lead.

The early strike gave him an advantage with the depot strategy.

Marcus, who previously had some bad luck with yellow flags, got everything right this time.

A powerful comeback in the race of the narcissist who was in the lead in 37 of the 80 laps.

- Everything is possible in indycar.

If you have a really good car and a really good team, you can end up in the winning circle, Marcus continued on the question of how it was possible to come back as he did in the race.

Marcus also lamented the incident with Bourdais in the interview.

Buttons on the leader

Following the success in Nashville, Ericsson is still fifth in the championship.

But now only 79 points from the leader, teammate Alex Palou, Spain.

Of course, the full hit strengthens Marcus' seat for a new contract with Chip Ganassi Racing before 2022. After the Indy 500, it is the Swede who has taken the most points of all drivers in the series.

Felix Rosenqvist got a new contract with hard-working Arrow McLaren SP before this weekend's race.

Felix made a nice comeback after the longer break in the series and looked to be driving towards a sixth place.

Unfortunately, he lost two places in the last laps when the fuel ran out for the Smålander.

Eight and a substantial portion of self-confidence into the account after a heavy season gave more flavor.

The next race will be run next weekend in Indianapoilis on the old F1 loop at Indianapolis Speedway.
