The closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics, theater of the handover with Paris, host of the Olympics-2024, began Sunday at the Olympic stadium in Tokyo.

During this ceremony, Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, will receive the Olympic flag from the hands of the governor of Tokyo Yuriko Koike through the president of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach.

The show hosted a parade of athletes, medalists or not, who participated in these Olympics marked in particular by the Covid-19 and the health restrictions imposed, such as closed doors in the stadiums.

At the end of the evening, the Olympic cauldron, lit on July 23, will go out.

At the same time in Paris, festivities, with the French medalists, take place at the Trocadéro.

The organizers of the Paris Olympics had planned to hoist a giant flag on the Eiffel Tower but "weather conditions do not allow it to be done", they indicated.

In Tokyo, an artistic sequence of ten minutes including a piece of music composed by the artist Woodkid which will be in concert in Paris.
