A sudden decision by Al Ain coach 11 days before the start of the new season

Ukrainian media reported that the Ukrainian coach of Al-Ain, Sergey Rebrov, will officially take over the technical leadership of his country, starting tomorrow, Monday, according to what was confirmed by the Ukrainian newspaper "uasport".

And Sergei Rebrov will replace the great Ukrainian star Andriy Shevchenko, whose mission with the team ended after his country's exit from the European Championship quarter-finals with a 4-0 loss to England.

And the newspaper quoted the director of the Ukrainian national teams, Myron Markevich, as saying that Sergei Rebrov will sign the new contract for two seasons, plus another year, conditional on Ukraine's qualification for the 2022 World Cup and the European Nations finals in 2024.

Al Ain Club did not issue any official comment about the step taken by its coach at this time and less than 11 days before the start of the new season.

Al Ain had previously announced in early June the appointment of Ukrainian coach Sergey Rebrov to succeed Portuguese Pedro Emmanuel at the end of last season.

Rebrov, 47, made his name as a player with Dynamo Kiev in the 1990s and also played for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in the Premier League in the 2000s.

The Ukrainian coach led Al-Ahly of Saudi Arabia for one season in 2017-2018 and also worked with Dynamo Kiev and Franzvaros of Hungary.

Rebrov won the Ukrainian League twice with Dynamo Kiev, and led Franzvaros to the Hungarian League title in the last three seasons.
