The rain poured down on Myyrmäki Stadium outside Helsinki - and the Finns got it tough when they faced Sweden in the European Championship semi-finals in American football.

The Swedes left with a victory to 22-14

"It's always a great feeling to win a match.

It is extra special to beat Finland.

And it is even more special today considering that it was the European Championship semi-final.

It gives us the opportunity to play for the European Championship title in the sport we practice.

There is no greater honor for an athlete. ", Writes the national team captain BD Kennedy in a message to SVT Sport.

It was really hot at first and it was Finland who started strong.

The Finns went out with the best attitude and initially zeroed Sweden to the numbers 14-0.

"They never gave up"

Sweden, however, refused to lose.

The Swedish players got back in the match and picked up to 9-14 before the break.

Then it would go even better.

Sweden picked up 13 straight points, without letting go of a single one and thus secured the victory to 22-14.

"I am most proud that our team came back after a disadvantage.

They never gave up and found a way to win.

A real team effort ”

"Our chances are good"

Several Swedes made great efforts.

The scorers were Edvin Taborda (six), Timy Göransson (six), Philip Juhlin (six), Nicholas Peterson (2) and Jakob Gorecki (2).

Now either France or Italy are waiting in the final.

“Our chances of winning gold simply depend on our ability to focus on the task.

We have to concentrate on ourselves and develop what we need and build on what we did well. ”

The final is played at the end of October.
