Olympic champions were Maria Lasitskene (high jump), Abdulrashid Sadulayev (freestyle wrestling, up to 97 kg) and the Russian national synchronized swimming team (Svetlana Romashina, Svetlana Kolesnichenko, Alexandra Patskevich, Alla Shishkina, Maria Shurochkina, Vlada Chigireva, Marina Golyadkina and Polina Mosquito).

Silver medals were won by Russian volleyball players (defeat in the final by the French national team with a score of 2: 3), gymnast Dina Averina, as well as the duo Vyacheslav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovsky, who lost to the Norwegians Anders Mol and Christian Serum in the final of the beach volleyball tournament.

The bronze medal went to freestyle wrestler Gadzhimurad Rashidov (weight category up to 65 kg).
