4 medals between gold and silver for Egypt, the first silver medal for Saudi Arabia, and another for Bahrain, on the penultimate day of the Tokyo Olympics.

Egyptian Feryal Ashraf won the gold medal in the weight of over 61 kilograms in karate, beating Irina Zaretska of Azerbaijan 2-0 in the final.

Karam Gaber was the last to win gold for Egypt in the freestyle wrestling competitions in the Athens 2004 Olympics. Feryal's medal is the second medal for Egypt in karate in Tokyo after Gianna Farouk won bronze in the weight of less than 61 kilograms on Friday.

Her Egyptian compatriot Ahmed El Gendy won the silver medal in the men's singles modern pentathlon. El Gendy competed with Joe Chung before his British competitor won the gold medal.

The bronze medal went to South Korea's John Wongtae.

Egypt raised its tally to 6 medals, the highest for an Arab country in one Olympic edition.

Saudi Tariq Hamidi also won a silver over 75 kilograms weight in karate, after the referees decided to exclude him from the final against Iranian Sajjad Ganjzadeh due to excessive violence.

Hamidi was ahead 4-1 when he kicked the Iranian player, who fell to the ground before being carried off the field on a stretcher.

After a discussion, the judges decided to issue a fourth-degree warning to Hamdi to be disqualified and the gold to go to Kanjzadeh.

Bahrain's Kalkidan Ghizahigen also won the silver medal in the women's 10,000-meter sprint in the athletics competitions at the Tokyo Olympics, with a record of 29 minutes 56.18 seconds.
