It was a repeat of the Olympic final in Rio five years ago.

Then Denmark won.

Now France started the final best.

A fast, fast French defense did not allow Denmark to come in with Magnus Saugstrup on the line

At the same time, "Les Bleus" delivered a fast-paced attacking play, not least thanks to the star Nikola Karabatić.

During the break, France led 14-10.

In the second half, the French continued with their senseless tempo changes and went on to a six-goal lead.

Denmark incurred technical errors.

The star Mikkel Hansen shot in the crossbar and looked empty.

He would also miss a penalty in the final minutes which was absolutely decisive.

Denmark found something back, much thanks to Niklas Landin's play in the goal, and the end was highly dramatic.

But the French refrained.

Wild cheers when they managed to twist the ball in a Danish attack at the position 24-23.

France thus secures its third historic Olympic gold and may call itself the reigning champion until the home Olympics in Paris in three years.
