Impressed by Korea's women's volleyball team advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, fans are donating seedlings to Turkey in the name of national team captain Kim Yeon-kyung.

On the Internet space such as Twitter, there is a campaign to donate seedlings under the name of 'Kim Yeon-kyung' or 'Team Korea' to Turkey, which has been severely damaged by the recent wildfire.

They use the hashtag (#) 'prayforturkey' to support Turkey and post articles and photos confirming donations.

In the women's quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics volleyball team held at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan yesterday (4th), the national team advanced to the quarterfinals by winning with a set score of 3-2 after a fierce battle with Turkey.

Amid fans' enthusiasm for the dramatic victory, a netizen's proposal to donate a tree to the opposing team, Turkey, was well-received and the donation procession continued.

The players of the Turkish national team promised to deliver good news at the Tokyo Olympics for the people suffering from wildfires, but failed to challenge for the medal after losing to Korea.

Turkish players also shed tears when it was decided to lose in the quarterfinals.

Kim Yeon-kyung also played for a long time in the Turkish League, a 'volleyball powerhouse'.

Before playing for Heungkuk Life in the V-League in the 2020-2021 season, Kim Yeon-kyung played in Turkey's Fenerbahce and Ekzashibashi.
