The “generation boat” brought the German racing canoeists the second medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In the two-man kayak, veteran Max Hoff (38) and youngster Jacob Schopf (22) finished in second place over 1000 meters in the final behind the competition from Australia.

Bronze went to the Czech Republic on the Sea Forest Waterway.

Hoff (Essen), Olympic champion in Rio in the kayak foursome, had triumphed together with Schopf two years ago at the World Championships in Szeged in the K2.

On Tuesday, the Potsdamer Schopf missed out on his Olympic premiere in the one over 1000 meters as the fourth precious metal wafer-thin.

The three-time Olympic champions Sebastian Brendel and Tim Hecker had previously won bronze in the Canadian two-man.
