The USA got a real dream start in the bronze match against Australia.

Already in the eighth minute, the lead goal came when Megan Rapinoe stood for an "Olympic goal".

Her corner kick screwed, without contact from any other player, all the way into goal.

1-1 did not come long afterwards.

Australian star Sam Kerr got a nice deep lead pass to run towards.

Then she finished distinctly and even though the goalkeeper was on the ball, she could not stop it from going in goal.

The first half would be a goal celebration.

Five minutes after the equalizer, Megan Rapinoe met a high ball with the ankle and thundered in 2-1 in the net.

Which was the World Cup queen from 2019 second goal in the match.

Before half time, the United States' third goal also came.

This time it was Carli Lloyd who struck with her 127 national team goal when she nicely placed 3-1 at the far post.

Lloyd two-goal shooter

39-year-old Carli Lloyd did not take it easy in the second half when she increased early to 4-1 after taking advantage of a defensive error.

Her tenth Olympic goal.

The goal party continued and in minute 54 Caitlin reduced Foord to 4-2 for Australia.

In the 90th minute there was another reduction and there was nerve in the final minutes.

But Australia did not find the receipt.

Olympic bronze to the USA and for Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd it may have been the last international match.

Australia with its Swedish coach Tony Gustavsson may thus leave this Olympics without a medal.
