Ugandan Peruth Chemutai won the third gold medalist in Ugandan history, the first since 2012, before Kenya's double in the men's 800 meters.

In wrestling, an Egyptian won bronze.

Men's 200 meters 

Liberian Joseph Fahnbulleh took part in the 200 meters final and finished in 5th place breaking the national record (19 sec. 98).

Men's 800 meters

Kenyan

Emmanuel Korir

became Olympic champion in the 800m in

Pole Patryk Dobek took third place in 1 min 45 sec 39. None of the three athletes had ever been on an Olympic podium.

Ugandan Peruth Chemutai won her country's third Olympic title, the first since 2012

The young athlete beat American Courtney Frerichs and Kenyan Hyvin Kiyeng. 

At 22, the Ugandan brings her country a third medal at the Tokyo Olympics, after Joshua Cheptegei's silver and Jacob Kiplimo's bronze in the 10,000 meters last week.

The big favorite, Kenyan Beatrice Chepkoech, world record holder and reigning world champion, exploded and finished 7th.

Ethiopians Mekides Abebe and Zerfe Wondemagegn finished 4th and 8th.

STRUGGLE

Egyptian Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed won bronze in Greco-Roman wrestling in the under 57 kilograms.

He beat Russian Arten Surkov on points after losing his semi-final and brought his country a third medal. 

His compatriot Mohamed Metwally lost him in the fight for the bronze medal of less than 87 kilos, against the German Denis Maksymilian Kudla. 

Egyptian wrestler Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics on August 4.

SKATEBOARD 

In the Park event, South African Melissa Williams was unable to take part in the final with a score of 8.30 in qualifying.

The eight finalists have all passed 40. 

Japanese Yosozumi was crowned Olympic champion with a score of 60.09.

South African Michelle Weber finished 21st, more than seven minutes behind gold medalist Ana Marcela Cunha from Brazil.

Algerian Souad Nefissa Cherouati ranks 25th and last.

The two Egyptians entered in the final of the show jumping event finished a long way from the Top 10. Mouda Zayada with Galanthos SHK and Nayel Nassar with Igor van de Wittemoere finished 19 and 24th out of 30 competitors.

1500 meters women

Reigning Olympic champion Kenyan Faith Kipyegon and Ethiopia's Freweyni Gebreezibeher set the best times in the semi-finals and will try to prevent Dutch Sifan Hassan from completing the 1,500, 5,000, 10,000-meter treble on Friday. 

They will be accompanied by the Ugandan Winnie Nanyondo, in the final.  

However, this does not work for the Ethiopian Lemlem Hailu and the Kenyan Edinah Jebitok.

Kenyan Faith Kipyegon set the fastest time in the 1,500-meter semi-finals on August 4 at the Tokyo Olympics.

No African athlete qualified for the final.

Egyptian Ihab Abdelrahman (81.92m), South African Rocco van Rooyen (77.41m) and Kenyan Julius Yego (77.34m) failed to take one of the first three directly qualifying places.

You had to exceed 82 meters to be drafted.

After losing in the quarter-finals in the under 87 kilogram category yesterday, Algerian Bachir Sid Azara lost in the repechage match against Serbian Datunashvili on Wednesday.

His compatriot Fateh Benferdjallah and the Nigerian Ekerekeme Agiomor were eliminated in the first round in the under 86 kilogram category. 

No more success for the Bissau-Guinean Diamantino Iuna Fafe and another Algerian Abdelhak Kherbache, at less than 57 kilos. 

Guinean Fatoumata Yarie Camara, Tunisian Siwar Bouseta and Nigerian Odunayo Folasade Adekuoroye also failed to pass the round of 16 in the same weight category.

No African managed to get his ticket for the semi-finals of his category on Wednesday: the Egyptian Momen Mahran in a single-seater kayak 200 meters, his compatriot Samaa Ahmed and the Algerian Amira Kheris over 500 meters, and the Nigerian Ayomide Emmanuel Bello in a single-seater canoe 200 meters.

South African Erin Sterkenburg was in contention in today's three events.

She notably fell in the speed test.

TRACK CYCLING

In the keirin event, South African Charlene du Preez was eliminated and could not advance to the quarter-finals.
