Swedish Henrik von Eckermann and the horse King Edward were first out of three Swedish carriages in the individual final.

And it was a great start.

von Eckermann started as tenth and stood for flawless jumping in the time 85.48.

Which then was the best result.

- I cry with joy, says commentator Linda Heed in Discovery +.

The next faultless crew was the home rider Daisuke Fukushima, who, however, was slightly slower than von Eckermann with a time of 87.57.

Baryard-Johnsson

The next Swede was Malin-Baryard-Johnsson who is participating in her fifth Olympics.

And after half the starting field, it was Swedish dominance because Baryard-Johnsson was also faultless with the horse Indiana in the time 87.22.

Gold favorite Daniel Deusser from Germany made a strong effort until the end when he and the horse Killer Queen were noted for eight errors.

Deusser already has an Olympic bronze from the team competitions in jumping in Rio 2016. The Dutchman Maikel van der Vleuten with the horse Beauville Z was also faultless.

All Swedes are flawless

Peder Fredricson took silver in Rio 2016. And today he followed the Swedish track when he and the horse All in passed the track flawlessly in the time 86.77.

And of the six who managed the course without any mistakes, three were Swedes, who all got ready for jumping for the medals.

- It felt incredibly good, it was a bit hectic.

The jump will be tough, we have to concentrate again and finish in a good way, says Henrik von Eckermann to Discovery.

Six crew, three medal chances

In the jump-off, six crews took part in the battle for the medals, three of them Swedes.

Once there, all Swedes were flawless.

Despite the starting position with three medal chances, there was only one.

Then Peder Fredricson snatched the silver.

Malin Baryard-Johnsson and Henrik von Eckermann made great efforts that were not enough all the way to a medal, but they had to settle for a fourth and fifth place respectively.

The winner was the pre-favorite Ben Maher from Great Britain with the horse Explosion W, which was 17 hundredths faster than Fredricson.
