Before the day's last race, the 470 duo Anton Dahlberg and Fredrik Bergström were in silver place after winning the previous race.

Mathew Belcher and Will Ryan from Australia were ahead of the decision in a superior first place while the Spanish duo Xammar and Rodriguez Garcia-Paz were the closest threat to the Swedes.

The medal race was therefore about whether it would be a silver or bronze medal for Dahlberg and Bergström.

The Swedish duo monitored the Spaniards during today's race and it ended up being a fairly safe silver medal for Dahlberg and Bergström.

The duo finished in second place in the medal race and managed to keep Spain at a comfortable distance.

As expected, the gold went to Australia, while Spain had to settle for a bronze medal.

The silver is Sweden's second sailing medal this Olympics after Josefin Olsson's silver in laser radial.

At the Olympics in Rio 2016, it was a sixth place for Anton Dahlberg and Fredrik Bergström.
