The latest win in the Allsvenskan was salvaged on 9 May.

Since then, Mjällby has had three crosses and five losses.

The defeat against Kalmar FF with 0-1 away last time was the drop.

The club now chooses to fire head coach Christian Järdler, who joined before the season, and his assistant Alf Westerberg.

- It is very sad that we were forced to make this decision and it is something we would have preferred to avoid.

Both Christian and Affe are ambitious coaches who have worked hard during their time in Mjällby AIF and are fantastic people who have helped us develop the club on several levels, says club manager Fredrik Danielsson according to Mjällby's website.

"Will bring in new energy"

Furthermore, the club manager says that football is about winning matches and that they have recently discussed what is the right way forward for the club.

- The board, together with us in the club management, has decided that we need to make a change on the leadership side to reverse the negative trend we are now in.

Anders Thorstensson, who most recently comes from the one-man club FK Karlskrona, will temporarily get the role of head coach.

Stefan Ekstrand, academy coach, becomes assistant.

- We have great confidence in both Anders and Stefan and believe that they, together with the rest of the management staff, will bring new energy to the team and a belief in winning football matches.

Mjällby will face Örebro on Saturday, 5.30 pm.
