What are the superlatives really left to pour over the Norwegian sprint wonder Karsten Warholm?

Before the final in the 400 meter hurdles, Warholm was the favorite, although American Rai Benjamin was mentioned as a strong challenger.

Warholm broke the world record for the distance in Oslo on July 1 when he ran in at 46.70.

Flew from the starting blocks

At the beginning of the final in Tokyo, Warholm flew out of the starting blocks.

Pretty soon, he, who ran on track six, had overtaken his competitors on the outer tracks.

Warholm extended the distance more and more, but then Benjamin appeared by his side on track five.

Benjamin did everything to try to catch up, which forced Warholm to increase the speed even further.

Only for 46 seconds

The two flew towards the finish line and when Warholm crossed it first it was at an unlikely time.

45.94 - new world record and first man ever to run for 46 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles.

Rai Benjamin finished in 46.17, which is the second best time ever in the distance.

Bronze to Brazil

Warholm seemed to have a hard time realizing what he was doing in the TV pictures.

Warholm also broke Kevin Young's 29-year-old Olympic record of 46.78 from the Olympics in Barcelona and the whole of Norway will celebrate the Olympic gold for weeks.

The bronze medal went to Alison dos Santos from Brazil in 46.72, which is the fourth fastest time in the 400 meter hurdles of all time.
