Volunteer women who learned about the enthusiasm of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics had high expectations for the Games and supported the Olympics.
(The video shows when I volunteered on August 1st).
This is Kimiko Watase (78) who participated as a volunteer.
It is said that the excitement and sense of unity of the last Tokyo Olympics that I saw when I was 21 is unforgettable.
"I think the power of sports is amazing to bring everyone together. I want to be involved in the success of the tournament."
It was the news of the Tokyo Olympics held in 2013 that changed Mr. Watase, who remained unmotivated even after his husband died in 2011.
Mr. Watase wanted to make his life brighter again by being involved in the Olympics. After he was 70 years old, he learned English conversation and tried to contribute to the success of the Olympics as much as possible.
And the last day of volunteer activities.
"All Call, Women's 76 kg".
I was in charge of the relay at the weightlifting venue and demonstrated the results of my studies.
It is said that the impression of the Olympic Games was deepened by interacting with many people from Japan and abroad during the three days of volunteer activities.
"Looking at the activities of the players every day, I feel that everyone's hearts are united. I also participated as a volunteer this time and learned that so many people are doing their best for success. I'm really glad I was able to do it. "
"I want to convey to future generations that sports have the power to unite one's heart and leave it to the children."
