All the talk before the women's weightlifting competitions in Tokyo has been about the + 87-kilo class where Laurel Hubbard, as the first trans person in Olympic history, participated.

The New Zealander failed with the first attempt in a jerk of 120 kilos and then blocked the next two of 125 kilos.

With that, the Olympic adventure is over for Hubbard.

Hubbard competed in the male category in weightlifting until 2013 and started competing as a woman in 2017.
