Track cycling a few seconds ago

Van Riessen and Braspennincx set a Dutch record!

The two women set a very sharp time and drive to 32.465 seconds.

It remains to be seen who will be the opponent in the next round.

Track cycling a few seconds ago

You ride the team sprint in pairs, the front rider starts the sprint and the last rider has to finish the sprint.

The best time currently belongs to the Polish women, they just clocked 33.244 seconds.

Van Riessen and Braspennincx will be fifth, today they will compete against Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Mexico, Germany, Russia and China.

Track cycling a few seconds ago

We are about to start the first part of the track cycling of these Games.

About 1500 spectators can take place in the stadium, because cycling takes place a long way outside Tokyo.

We will not achieve those numbers today, but there is at least some atmosphere around the track.

Track Cycling 16 minutes ago

On behalf of the Netherlands, Shanne Braspennicx and Laurine van Riessen will compete in the team sprint.

The pair are fifth on the track and based on the qualifying times, the opponents in the first round are determined.

The number one takes on the number eight and the number two against the number seven and so on.

All sailing races postponed to Tuesday

The sailing races on Monday will all be postponed by 24 hours due to weak winds.

As a result, Annette Duetz and Annemiek Bekkering can only sail for the medals in the skiff-49erFX class tomorrow.

The medal race, in which they would start as leaders of the classification together with the Brazilian title defenders Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, is now on the program for Tuesday morning.

Football 1 hour ago

Orange international Merel van Dongen lacks the competition feeling.

Today, the semi-finals in women's football are scheduled with the United States-Canada and Australia-Sweden.

Waking up in the Netherlands is perhaps the biggest blow to date.

No 1/2 final today.

No discussion and no nerves.

It's so nice to be with my family and friends again but it's just a week early.

I miss my teammates and I miss traveling together🧡

Annemiek Bekkering and Annette Duetz are put to the test.

The duo is on the medal track, but the all-deciding medal race has been postponed due to the missing right wind.

The start time is unknown, mainly due to the unpredictability of the wind.

Florijn leaves quarantine hotel in Tokyo

Finn Florijn has left the quarantine hotel in Tokyo and is flying back to the Netherlands.

Florijn tested positive for the corona virus on Friday 23 July after competing in the skiff heats.

After skateboarder Candy Jacobs, taekwondoka Reshmie Oogink and an anonymous staff member of the rowing team, Florijn was the fourth Dutchman to enter the quarantine hotel.

They have been allowed to return home for the past few days.

Only tennis player Jean-Julien Rojer, head coach Josy Verdonkschot of the women's rowing boats and his assistant Isabelle Jacobs are now stuck in Tokyo after their positive corona tests.

India

The Dutch coach Sjoerd Marijne surprisingly reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games with the hockey women of India.

Australia was defeated 1-0 in the quarter-finals in Tokyo.

Marijne was briefly national coach of the Dutch women's team between 2014 and 2015 and has been national coach of India since May 2018.

Incidentally, a very interesting race awaits us later today in Enoshima Bay.

In the 49er FX class, the Dutch duo Bekkering/Duetz is tied for first place with Brazilian title defenders Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze.

The final medal race will start, weather permitting, at 7:33 AM.

This Canadian journalist is calling for the 'wind dance'.

We can only agree with this, so that Berkhout and Zegers can take action as quickly as possible.

No problem.

Open water swimmers explore the course

Sharon van Rouwendaal and Ferry Weertman explored the bay this morning in which they hope to extend their Olympic titles in the 10 kilometers.

It provided the swimmers with important new insights.

"The last part to the finish they swim towards the place where the sun rises," says national coach Thijs Hagelstein.

"So they look into the sun. That is important to know for navigation."

Argentine hockey players to semi-finals

The Argentine hockey players have qualified first for the semi-finals.

Germany won 3-0 in the quarterfinals, which had lost 3-1 to the Netherlands earlier in the group stage.

Later today (11:30 AM), the Netherlands will play against New Zealand.

Athletics 3 hours ago

Earlier last night, we talked about JuVaughn Harrison, who will be competing in the long jump after finishing seventh in the high jump today.

However, he failed to take a medal in this part either.

The American finished fifth.

The reason for the delay.

Visser is disappointed: 'There was much more to it'

Nadine Visser was the first Dutch person ever to reach the final in the 100 meter hurdles and finished fifth with a time of 12.73.

"I'm really disappointed," says the athlete in front of the

NOS

camera

.

The third fastest time was set by Megan Tapper (12.55) and Nadine Visser ran 12.63 in the semi-finals.

"There were still plenty of areas for improvement yesterday and when I see what times it took to get a medal, there was a lot more in it. That's frustrating."

Athletics 3 hours ago

It is indeed a fifth place for Nadine Visser, who was overtaken by the competition especially in the last meters.

  • The top five:

  • 1. Jasmine Camacho Quinn -

    12.37

  • 2. Kendra Harrison -

    12.52

  • 3. Megan Tapper -

Athletics 3 hours ago

Finish!

Visser cannot keep up with the pace on the last meters and seems to finish fifth.

We are waiting for the final result.

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn is sure of the gold with a time of 12.37.

Athletics 3 hours ago

Another 50 meters -

Visser is around fourth place, the big favorite Camacho-Quinn seems well on his way to victory.

Athletics 3 hours ago

Start!

Nadine Visser is apparently well away in lane three.

Athletics 4 hours ago

The eight athletes are introduced one by one.

Just a few minutes until the starting gun!

A great moment for Nadine Visser: she is the first Dutch person ever to take action during the Olympic final in the 100 meter hurdles.

The North Holland player reached the final with a time of 12.63.

    Athletics 4 hours ago

Due to the cancellation of Jamile Samuel, we will see another Dutch one later today (from 12.25 pm) in the person of Dafne Schippers during the semifinals of the 200 meters.

    Athletics 4 hours ago

    Unsubscribe Jamile Samuel!

The Dutch flag is still projected on the track, but Jamile Samuel is nowhere to be seen.

The Dutchman has withdrawn with a minor injury for her performance in the 200 meters.

    Athletics 4 hours ago

On to the last and seventh series.

Who will Jamile Samuel compete with for a place in the semifinals?

    • Jenna Prandini (US)

    • Kristina Knott (Philippines)

    • Maja Mihalinec (Slovenia)

    • Gina Bass (Gambia)

    • Riley Day (Australia)

    Athletics 4 hours ago

A surprise in the fifth series of the 200 meters!

Shericka Jackson, the number three in the hundred meters, will hit her head.

She is unable to compete in her favorite part in the semi-finals.

The Jamaican deliberately holds back and is beaten in the last meters by the Italian Dalia Kaddari.

    Athletics 4 hours ago

Meanwhile in the long jump in action: JuVaughn Harrison.

The American is the only athlete to compete in both the high jump and long jump at these Games.

He did not compete for the medals in the high jump yesterday, because he finished seventh.

    Athletics 4 hours ago

At 4.18 pm we see the second Dutch in the series of the 200 meters in action.

Just like Schippers, 29-year-old Jamile Samuel previously registered for the 100 meters and focuses on the 200 meters and the 4x100 relay.

Schippers: 'Didn't want to waste energy'

The Olympic athletics tournament has finally started for Dafne Schippers.

"I am glad that the head is off, but it is still very difficult to find", she says after her third place in the second series in front of the camera of the

    NOS

    .

Schippers ran for a long time in third place, but was almost overtaken by the German Lisa Marie Kwayie on the last meters.

"I didn't want to waste too much energy and just had to get through this series. It worked."

    Athletics 5 hours ago

    Finish!

Schippers lets it run a bit in the last meters and is almost overtaken by the German Lisa Marie Kwayie.

She still finishes third with a time of 23.13 and goes to the semi-finals.

    Athletics 5 hours ago

    Another 100 meters -

Schippers comes out of the bend well and apparently runs in third place.

Fraser-Pryce is clearly in the lead.

    Athletics 5 hours ago

    Start!

The Olympic adventure has finally begun for Dafne Schippers.

Can she qualify for the semi-finals?

    Athletics 5 hours ago

With these six women, Dafne Schippers will start in the 200 meters.

The best three per series plus the three fastest time advance to the semi-finals.

In total there are seven series.

    • Beatrice Masilingi (Namibia)

    • Lucia Moris (South Sudan)

    • Najma Parveen (Pakistan)

    • Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Jamaica)

    • Rafalia Spanoudaki (Greece)

    • Lisa Marie Kwaylie (Germany)

    Athletics 5 hours ago

Following Sifan Hassan, Dafne Schippers and Jamile Samuel also hope to qualify for the semi-finals.

The two hopes to do that in the 200 meters.

    • 3.38 pm:

      Series 2 with Dafne Schippers

    • 4.18 pm:

      Series 7 with Jamile Samuel
