Shin Jae-hwan (23, Jecheon City Hall) became the second Korean gymnast to win an Olympic gold medal.

Shin Jae-hwan scored an average of 14.783 points in the first and second rounds in the men's gymnastics vault finals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games held at Ariake Gymnastics Stadium in Tokyo, Japan today (2nd), tied with Denis Ablyazin (Russian Olympic Committee).

However, Shin Jae-hwan won the gold medal thanks to his 6.0-point technique, which had a much higher difficulty score than Ablyazin.

Shin Jae-hwan added his second gold medal in 9 years since Yang Hak-seon (29, Suwon City Hall) won the first Olympic gold medal in Korean gymnastics at the 2012 London Games.
