At 03.20 Swedish time, the Swedish national anthem finally sounded over an Olympic arena in Tokyo.

Then Daniel Ståhl received his gold medal for the victory in discus - with training buddy Simon Pettersson in silver place next to him on the podium at the Olympic Stadium.

Then it had only been half a day after the Swedish success in the discus final.

- We came home three last night, home and shower, jaw.

Simon went to bed a little earlier, I was up to five, half past five.

Then up and here, says Daniel Ståhl after the ceremony.

A short night in other words.

But you have to take it after a successful night at the Olympic Stadium.

Listened to the national anthem

- I took it easy, checked the phone a bit.

Listened to music.

I listened to all the songs and the national anthem.

It is a wonderful song, says Daniel Ståhl.

Ståhl was a big pre-favorite before the final with his World Cup gold two years ago and his dominant position in the world top.

The pressure was great, he said afterwards.

But he kept up the pressure and threw the discus 68.90 meters in his second attempt.

A gold rush.

Simon Pettersson's medal was more unexpected.

But his 67.39 meters in the fifth round gave a Swedish double on the podium, with the Austrian Lukas Weisshaidinger (67.07) in bronze.

- You like to do this actually, says Simon Pettersson.

- It was powerful to stand there.

But I probably have not really landed in it yet.
